2017 Women’s Fall Retreat
September 29th – October 1st
LemonsToGrapes.com is the new sponsor of an annual women’s retreat that began eleven years ago with the publication of the book, The Thread of Gold: God’s Purpose, the Cross, and Me, by Jane Carole Anderson. This year, the retreat’s theme is:
THE BATTLE AND THE BLESSING
In the troubled times in which we live, God is calling Christian women to become women of chayil who will, with the help of the Holy Spirit, (1) stand up against the flood of evil that is spreading over the earth and (2) pave the way for God’s blessing to be poured out on lost and spiritually hungry people.
At the retreat, we will spend several days together in a restful environment that is conducive to informal fellowship. We will examine, discuss, and have Q&A time with Jane about the material found in chapters 8 and 9 of her new book, A Woman of Chayil: Far Above Rubies (available on Amazon). We will also have some time set aside for recreation and relaxation. We look forward to spending time together in God’s presence again this year.
The Beautiful Cherith
The retreat will be held at the same place God has provided for us since 2006. It is a private facility called The Cherith, in a beautiful country setting north of Dallas, Texas. (The address of the facility will be provided after you sign-up. )
This large facility has:
- A kitchen and dining area
- An indoor heated swimming pool
- A half-court gym
- A large game room with a pool table, ping pong table, and other game tables
- Two bathrooms with showers and a washer and dryer
- A large outdoor covered veranda with plenty of comfortable seating and a view of some large pastures with horses and cows. If we have enough rain, the large lawn surrounding the facility and the pastures will be a beautiful green (otherwise, color them brown!)
- A sound system where we can play our favorite Christian CDs
When and How Much?
Start and End
Starts: Friday, September 29th (10:00 a.m.)
Ends: Sunday, October 1st, 2017 (1:00 p.m.)
Note: The facility will be open Thursday, September 28th, at 4 p.m. for any who would like to participate in an early informal meet-and-greet time. We will leave the facility and go out to eat together at a nearby restaurant at 6:00 p.m.
To help offset the cost of meals and other retreat expenses, there is a registration fee of $40. The fee will be $32.50 for those who register early (by August 15th). Students will receive a 50% discount by entering the code “student” at sign-up. The last date to register is September 4, 2017.
We will provide your breakfast, lunch, and snacks Friday morning through Sunday noon. We will eat out on Friday and Saturday nights, with each person being responsible for the cost of her own evening meal.
Option One—Free Lodging: Available Thursday night through Sunday on a first come, first served basis. If you sign up for free lodging, you will need to provide your own bed (cot or inflatable bed), bedding, and towels. You might think of it as camping indoors! (There is compressed air on site for inflating air mattresses.) Note: If you will be flying, we will provide a bed, bedding, and towels for you.
Option Two—Lodging Elsewhere: We have secured a group rate at a nearby hotel. When you register, you will receive details about this.
Feel free to tell others about the retreat and invite them to come.
