Is Hierarchical Christian Leadership Biblical?

Home Forums IV. Questions, Arguments, and Answers (Back and Forth in the Quest for Truth) Is Hierarchical Christian Leadership Biblical?

This forum is for using the Bible to call into question the belief that Christian leadership is biblically mandated to be hierarchical. The Bible states three times:    But Jesus called them aside and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you, he will be your slave--just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28; Mark 10:42-45; Luke 22:25-27, BSB)
For example, topics can  include such things as: how leadership abuse is tied to hierarchy; what part believers are mandated to play in confronting and correcting leadership abuses; actual cases of leadership abuse and of believers' actions (or failures) to correct them, etc.
