Today, October 11th, is the National Day of Prayer for the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and on this day our chapter posted this prayer:
GEORGE WASHINGTON’S PRAYER FOR HIS COUNTRY.
Almighty God, bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord and confusion; from pride and arrogance and from every evil way. Defend our liberties and fashion into one United people from the multitude brought out of many kindred and tongues. Endow with the spirit of wisdom those whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there be peace and justice at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth. Amen
Lord, we thank you for hearing our prayers and praise you that you are sovereign over our nation and all the earth!
